A Nursing School Education Is The First Step Toward A Great Career

In the present world economic condition, more and more people find themselves out of a job. With unemployment expected to hover near double digits, this situation is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. So what's the solution? Find a career that offers good pay and job stability even during a recession. A nursing school education offers just that-a career in nursing, which will insure that you will never be stuck looking for work.

To enter the nursing field, there are generally 3 paths you can take. You can come in as a CNA (certified nursing assistant), an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), or an RN (Registered Nurse). All 3 paths can take you where you're going, some just a little faster than others.

If you decide to become a CNA, you can start working within about a month or perhaps less. The training and certification is very short, and once completed you can be earning an hourly rate of $10-$15, depending on the area you live. While working as a CNA, your duties will be to assist LPNs and RNs in caring for patients and performing some of the same tasks, but under the supervision of a nurse. This is not a bad way to gain some practical experience in the nursing field while pursuing a higher position.

Going to licensed practical nursing school and becoming an LPN is perhaps the most popular route into the nursing field. The schooling can be completed in under two years and you can earn a starting salary in the mid five figures. LPNs normally work under the supervision of RNs and perform most of the basic tasks of caring for a patient. After completing LPN training and beginning work, many people continue going to school part time working toward becoming an RN. Still others are content with the salary and work of an LPN and decide to stay at that level.

An RN is the highest paid type of nurse and also the one with the most responsibility. In many hospitals and other medical institutions, RNs are in charge of a team of LPNs. They are responsible to keep things organized and make sure all the patients are receiving the care that they need. This can be a very rewarding and sometimes stressful career, but the pay and benefits make it well worthwhile for many people.

Whatever route you decide to take, entering nursing school is a very wise career move. You will always have a job as long as you're able to do the work and you'll almost certainly be paid well above average while having the opportunity to care for others in a rewarding and satisfying profession.

Ghana Life: Roads in Ghana and England

It is March 1984, and Kwame Mainu has just arrived at Gatwick Airport on his first visit to England. As he is driven towards Coventry by Robert Earl, who has arranged his short training programme, Kwame is struck by the differences between roads in England and in his native Ghana. He shares some of his thoughts with Robert.

"I never saw such roads before. In Ghana we have only one small motorway, from Accra to Tema."
"It doesn't matter how many you have." replied Robert, "You will soon find that there are enough vehicles to jam them up."

Kwame brooded on the contrast between the roads in Ghana and those he was now riding on. He considered himself to be an expert at negotiating potholes: those you steered around and those you passed between the wheels, those you slowed down for and those that brought you to a virtual halt. Here, this skill would be redundant. He recalled the remark of a friend who was asked how he enjoyed his holiday in Britain. "I hired a car and drove for 1500 miles and never saw a pothole," he had said. At the time this had seemed to be an incredible statement but now Kwame suspected that it might have been true. He mentioned it to Robert Earl who replied that potholes may not be a problem but the constant resurfacing of roads caused obstructions, long tailbacks and delayed journeys. Kwame was startled to discover that not having potholes could also have its down side.

Another thing that impressed Kwame was the road signs. Everywhere there was written information helping you to find your way. It had been the same at the airport. He remembered an English friend telling him years ago that finding your way about in England was very easy if only you could read and understand English. He now saw the value of this advice and resolved to follow it. However he was still not sure of Oboroni's second recommendation: "If you are lost and all else fails, ask a policeman."

Kwame recalled his father telling him that British policemen were unarmed and always ready to help the public. According to Kwesi, this was also the case in the Gold Coast in colonial times. Anyone attempting to bribe a policeman was met with the standard reply 'I like my pay!' However, in Ghana today, after almost two decades of military rule and increasing poverty, the public had come to view all policemen as predators, more intent on taxing the citizen than helping him. It would take Kwame some time to see policemen anywhere in a different light.

Kwame found the traffic on the motorway very confusing. Robert had told him that there was a legal speed limit of 70 miles per hour. There were three lanes of traffic. The inside lane was dominated by heavy trucks moving at a slower speed of perhaps 50 or 60 m.p.h. For long stretches between the trucks, Robert Earl also drove in the inside lane, but when he came up behind one of these slower vehicles he moved out into the middle lane to overtake. Many drivers were following this pattern of using the inner two lanes and seemed to be driving not much above the 70 mph limit. However, all the time a third stream of vehicles was passing at a much greater speed in the outer lane, flashing their lights at any vehicle that strayed into their path.

"Who are these privileged motorists?" Kwame asked, "Are they police or members of the government?"
"Nobody knows. It's a mystery," replied Robert. "We say we have two legal lanes on the motorway and one illegal one!"
"Why do you call the outer lane illegal?" asked Kwame.
"Well, either the cars in that lane are travelling at an illegal speed, or you must have some special permission to use the lane and it is illegal for ordinary motorists to enter it."

Kwame had read about Britain's traditional class system but this was his first encounter with it. He wondered how it would affect him personally, and watched carefully to see if he could spot any black faces racing past. He soon relaxed. A good proportion of the speeding drivers appeared to have origins in Africa. He felt sure that one day he too would drive in the fast lane.

Let's Get More Parents Volunteering in the Classroom

This has been an interesting school year for my kids and I, and it's only just beginning. My children are enrolled in a district owned charter school, and in order to guarantee admission I had to agree to do 50 hours of volunteer work at the school this year. There aren't any requirements for future school years, or any opportunities for parents to volunteer their services to get their children into the school for in the future. This was a one time deal as the school got started.

Fifty hours may sound like a lot, but it really isn't that bad. The school gives a lot of opportunities to earn hours, but of course what they want most is parents volunteering in the classroom. I'm comfortably on track to get my hours in, probably with a healthy margin over. That's despite the disadvantage of having a two year old at home who cannot be in the classroom with me. If she comes along, I'm restricted to certain activities in a room set up for preschool aged siblings to play while their parents do paperwork and such. On the plus side, going along on field trips counts.

Can you imagine how much this is helping the teachers at our school? It's pretty significant. They can come up with projects which need a lot of extra help for the students, and have a good chance of a number of parents coming in to help. Teachers may have multiple parents helping at one time, allowing them to focus more on individuals and more readily assess individual skills and needs.

Especially in the lower elementary levels, it's not terribly hard to help the teachers in the class. I've read with kindergarten and first grade students, helped with math and supervised students in the computer lab. You don't have to know as much as the teacher; you just have to know what kind of help the teacher is expecting from you.

Of course, parents have to be discrete when helping in the class. No gossiping about how well this student or that is performing or the troubles another student is having. Talk about your own student, fine, let your friends talk about their students, fine, but let the teacher handle the parts relating to his or her job.

How Do You Encourage More Parents to Volunteer?

It's not always easy for parents to volunteer at their child's school. Employers don't always make it easy to get time off. Schools aren't always welcoming of volunteers. Stay at home moms may have younger children to care for, and no one to give them a break to go help at the school. It really isn't easy.

The most important thing in my opinion is that the school be welcoming of parent volunteers. This is something you need from both office administration and individual teachers. If parents don't feel welcome when they help at the school, it's just not going to happen much, no matter whether they have the time available.

One suggestion I read is for schools to offer a parent's resource center. This is a place for parents to learn about parenting and school issues.

Schools do face some legitimate and/or perceived issues with encouraging more parental involvement, especially in poorer areas. These include:

* Lack of parent education to help with schoolwork,
* Cultural or socioeconomic differences,
* Language differences between parents and staff,
* Parent attitudes about the school,
* Staff attitudes toward parents, and
* Concerns about safety in the area after school hours.

from: http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/frss/publications/98032/index.asp?sectionid=7

These are difficult obstacles to handle. It's very difficult for a parent to help a teacher in class if they don't have a language in common, for example.

For parents, some issues are more easily overcome than others. A stay at home parent with small children, for example, may be able to find another at home parent who will be willing to trade childcare so that both can sometimes go in and volunteer. This has the added benefit of getting the younger siblings together to play. Alternatively, the school may do as mine does and come up with conditions that allow parents to bring small children along when they volunteer. Many won't be willing to have the sibling in the classroom, as preschoolers may be too much of a distraction to the regular students, but I've read to students with my preschooler alongside, which I think was beneficial. More exposure to reading for the little one.

Parents whose jobs get in the way face greater barriers. Some employers will be understanding, but others won't. Even so, there may be opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities on weekends or other times they don't have to be at work.

What Are the Benefits of More Parental Involvement?

Before I get going on this, I would note that parental involvement means more than just volunteering at school. It's about encouraging your student to be a good student, to take challenging classes and get high grades. It's checking homework at night. Joining the PTA or PTO. Reading to your child. Insisting on good behavior.

These things have benefits. When parents are really involved with their children's education, their children can:

* Get better grades and test scores.
* Graduate from high school at higher rates.
* Are more likely to go on to higher education.
* Are better behaved and have more positive attitudes.

from: http://www2.ed.gov/pubs/PFIE/families.html

While being in the classroom isn't going to give all these benefits to all the students in the class, I would say it's way to show all the class, not just your own child, how much you value their education. That's a worthwhile goal.

Can't Undo Facebook Timeline? Know Why

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

UNDO REMOVE TIMELINEAfter 6th December, Facebook Timeline has completely transformed the shape of old FB profiles. Some users are finding the new layout pretty complicated and unfamiliar. Whether it may be new advanced privacy settings or the new profile design, Facebook new changes are always somewhat not unanimously accepted by the 800 Million registered users.  The new Timeline design display all your posts in hierarchal way, giving more importance to your memorable posts, photos and events. There appears to be no option which could remove timeline or undo the new profile design change so that you could revert back to the old profile layout. No method so far seems to work, neither disabling the timeline app  is working. The Timeline App was a method by which you could set up timeline before its launch. There must be reasons behind absence of timeline Removal option. Lets analyze some facts.
I founded Facebook on the idea that people want to share and connect with people in their lives, but to do this everyone needs complete control over who they share with at all times. This idea has been the core of Facebook since day one. When I built the first version of Facebook, almost nobody I knew wanted a public page on the internet. That seemed scary. But as long as they could make their page private, they felt safe sharing with their friends online. Control was key. With Facebook, for the first time, people had the tools they needed to do this. That's how Facebook became the world's biggest community online.  We made it easy for people to feel comfortable sharing things about their real lives. We've added many new tools since then: sharing photos, creating groups, commenting on and liking your friends' posts and recently even listening to music or watching videos together. With each new tool, we've added new privacy controls to ensure that you continue to have complete control over who sees everything you share. Because of these tools and controls, most people share many more things today than they did a few years ago.Overall, I think we have a good history of providing transparency and control over who can see your information. That said, I'm the first to admit that we've made a bunch of mistakes. In particular, I think that a small number of high profile mistakes, like Beacon four years ago and poor execution as we transitioned our privacy model two years ago, have often overshadowed much of the good work we've done.
The highlighted words are where Mark himself accepts some of his past mistakes. Beacon was Facebook's advertisement system that sent data from external websites to Facebook, for the purpose of allowing targeted ads and allowing users to share their activities with their friends. The controversial part was that Facebook was publishing User activities from other websites without explicit permission from the user. This was a complete violation of user privacy. All this was done without letting you know! The purpose of sharing the Beacon story is to tell you that Facebook have often taken decisions without keeping user feedback greatly in mind. Now when the entire Layout was going to be transformed, no proper Feedback campaign was ran which could ask users about their likes and dislikes concerned with the new timeline Design. Yes they tested a beta version of timeline and allowed users to try timeline in advance but why not User Feedback again?Mark promised on November with his blog post that user response will be given great importance but I never get it why the same mistake is repeated again? Now lets know the reasons that why can't your remove, undo or delete the timeline view.Things look simple when they look alike. In order to prevent development ambiguity/complexity, all layouts are given same design structure so that it becomes easy to organize the data using the same technique without the need of two different methods for the display and arrangement of the same data on Facebook servers. If the option of removing Timeline existed then it would have given rise to great confusion in interface. Facebook users are of different age and are experimented to like simplicity in design and structure. If your friend is running a timeLine and you are running Old Profile, then of course you will find it difficult to understand the updates at his profile due to different organization of data. What is placed at your left is shifted to top and right on timeline. This can discourage users from using Facebook and then can probably look for an alternative simple social media network like Google+.Google Plus is the new social networking website which was launched just this July by Google Inc. Almost all features in Google+  match that of Facebook accept the introduction of Sparks, Circles and video conferencing. In order to tell its users that Facebook offers much different social touch a step like this was important. I must inform you that Facebook knew about the Google+ development and all its features much before it was launched. Because keeping an eye on your competitor is an important principle of i-marketing. In short it is hard to believe but once again the new look has been forced upon the users without keeping the community likes and dislikes in Mind. I would love to hear about what else can you share on this latest development and do tell me if you like the new layout or not. Please give reasons why you like it. Hope to see some comfortable new changes in FB's new design. For the time being new creative tricks are been applied to Timeline Covers. Why not Create a Hot Cover for your Profile?

Planning To Teach In Overseas Programs? Things To Take Care Of Before You Move

If you're an adventurous type, one of the most exciting things you can do is pack up and move to teach English abroad. Paid positions will enable to you earn a living and travel in new areas of the world at the same time. It's an amazing experience, but before you can think about moving, there are a lot of loose ends you should tie up back home.

Before You Move To Teach In Overseas Programs, Visit The Doctor And Dentist

Some teach overseas programs will provide you with health insurance, but it's always a good idea to go get a medical and dental checkup before you go. Get a refill of any regular maintenance prescriptions, such as birth control or allergy medication and check to make sure you're up to date on your vaccinations, particularly tetanus.

At the dentist, go for a full cleaning, complete with dental X-rays. However, make sure to do this at least a month before you're scheduled to go, just in case you need to leave time to have cavities filled or root canals taken care of. Moving to teach in overseas programs knowing that you need dental work isn't a good idea.

Chances are good that you'll be moving to a country with a solid medical or dental system, but you'll likely be much too busy at first to worry about routine checkups, not to mention the doctors and dentists will speak the native language, not English. This is why it's a great idea to take care of this before you leave the United States.

Sell Your Car And Put Your Belongings In Storage

You probably won't be able to take your car with you when you move to teach in overseas programs. Even if you're going to teach English abroad in paid positions, you'll probably need to leave your car behind because transporting a car overseas can be prohibitively expensive and quite a hassle. Consider selling it or placing it into storage for the duration of your position.

Also, it's not uncommon for teachers to bring clothing and some personal belongings with them when they move. However, if you're going to teach English abroad in paid positions, the companies that set up these jobs will sometimes provide you with a furnished apartment, which means you don't need to bring large furniture items with you. Whether you put everything in storage or sell it is up to you.

Call Your Credit Card Company

Lastly, call your credit card company. This is a step that most people forget about, but it's an important one. You should be able to use your credit cards after you move to teach in overseas programs, but you should call your credit card company and let them know that you'll be moving. Many credit card companies have safety features in place to keep their customers from being the victims of credit card theft and this can cause your card not to work if the company thinks the charges in your new country are unauthorized.

If you're looking to work overseas, there are a lot of things to do in order to prepare before you go. These are just three of them. Make sure to keep a list to ensure you don't have any loose ends before you move.

For over 30 years, AIDC has been giving native English speakers the chance to teach English abroad in paid positions. If you're looking for Middle Eastern teach overseas programs, AIDC can help. To see a list of jobs that will allow you to teach in Abu Dhabi, visit the company's website.

T platforms to ten petaflop supercomputer for Moscow State University

Moscow, Dec. 21 platforms, a global developer and supplier of supercomputers and a full range of solutions and services for high-performance computing, announced an agreement a Computercluster 10 today, PFlops able to design (10 ^ 15 floating point operations per second) for M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University. Under the terms of the agreement, a complete computer system involving the necessary supercomputer and engineering infrastructure develop the company to ensure uninterrupted job processing.

Currently two computer systems of platforms are at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University work. The MSU Cebyšev supercomputer was built in 2008. At that time it the 36th position on the global TOP500 list of the most powerful computing cluster and was used education seventh among all supercomputers in the world. After the commissioning of the system, the need for additional capacity and ability soon became apparent, when these cluster resources is fully allocated.

With the ever-increasing scientific issues and challenges be tackled, an objective need for the scale in computing power was released. University decided leadership for the purchase of a new, more powerful supercomputer complex provides high end resources for more scientific teams together to allow more research. These clusters, the Lomonosov supercomputer was designed and built by platforms. Today the performance of the system of the State set a record for Russia and CIS to 1.3 PFlops, allows, hold the leading position among the Top50-a list of the most powerful supercomputer in Russia and CIS and 13 on the TOP500 classified rating.

The MSU computing systems support basic scientific and application research in air and space, nuclear, bio-medicine, oil and gas and many other industries. However, is based on the computing requirements and increased need these applications that existing computing power is no longer sufficient to meet reasonable turn-around time. This test, MSU decided the development of a new IT cluster 10 PFlops location to search.

"We have enjoyed M.V. for years Lomonosov Moscow State University worked closely with, and it is advisable to describe MSU as a strategic partner for our company," said Vsevolod Opanasenko, CEO of platforms. "We look at this selection a competitive victory, and we are honored to design a new generation computer system with ground-breaking performance for our country." This is strong confirmation of the high expertise of our engineers and developers of largest Russian scientific centre. "How to create this system is a new stage in the development of a domestic computer industry and provide fundamental new opportunities for Russian science."

The following quote is from the presidential address of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, November 12, 2009:

"Russia needs to fully use the potential of the supercomputer and supercomputer systems by high speed data exchange channels connected." With its help could five years initially design new aircraft and spaceships, cars and nuclear reactors. "Advanced technology, which tackled not through computer simulation and not been digitized so to speak, find themselves without demand on the market within a few years."
